Tennis Court to Food Forest

Katy and Manu have ripped up their unused tennis court in preparation for a food forest. We went through a brainstorming session which started off with some expensive and energy intensive solutions to rebuild the soil. In the end we dug 20 banana circle composting pits and have brought in truck loads off free organic matter from a variety of sources.

We will be planting out the berms with bananas and sweet potatoes this week and a variety of green manures in-between the circles.

The banana and sweet potatoe harvests will be sold to buy mature fruit trees which will eventually be planted into the banana composting pits.
