The Global Day of Parents provides an opportunity to appreciate all parents in all parts of the world for their selfless commitment to children and their lifelong sacrifice towards nurturing this relationship. This day was established by the United Nations General Assembly Resolution A/RES/66/292 approved on September 2012.
In order to motivate people to become active agents of sustainable and equitable development;promote the fundamental role of communities in changing attitudes towards environmental issues, and to promote cooperation for environmentally sustainable, the General Assembly of the United Nations, in its resolution 2994 (XXVII) of 15 December 1972, proclaimed on June 5 as World Environment Day.
Recognizing that the oceans are the lungs of our planet that provide most of the oxygen we breathe and are an important source of food, medicine and a critical part of the biosphere, the General Assembly of the United Nations, in its resolution 63/111 dated December 5, 2008, the United Nations proclaimed June 8 as World Oceans Day.
In order to raise awareness among governments, organizations and individuals on the responsibility of everyone about the sustainable use of water and land and the implementation of measures to prepare and anticipate water shortages, desertification and drought, in 1994 the General Assembly of the United Nations declared June 17 as the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought.
The International Day of Friendship Day is meant to regard friendship as a noble and valuable sentiment in the life of human beings worldwide and that it promotes dialogue among civilizations, solidarity, mutual understanding and reconciliation. This day comes from the proposal made by UNESCO and addressed by the United Nations General Assembly in 1997 defined the culture of peace as a set of values, attitudes, and behaviors that reject violence and prevent conflicts.
